Brevard County Film Commissioner, Bonnie King
Bonnie will discuss the upcoming series being filmed locally (The Right Stuff) and how to be involved as actors or crew.  She may also discuss other projects and tell about some past projects of interest.

Upcoming Workshops:

Teleprompter Training for behind and in front of the camera
Led by Bill Williams, owner of A Cut Above Studios, this hour long class will teach what you need to know when working either behind and/or in front of the teleprompter.
Each student will be able to register for the area of interest as an actor, as a technician, or both.
(Regestering for 'both' will require a 2 hours of training.)
Classes are expected to be held in August 2019.

Beginning Combat for Stage and Film
Led by the Moores (Rick, Donna, & Dama), founding members of MASK (Melbourne Academy of Staged Kombat).  They are well versed in all aspects of staged violence and theatrical disciplines and have studied under many Fight Directors and Certified Instructors from The SAFD (Society of American Fight Directors). 
Classes to be held soon after the telepromter class.

Camera Basics for Filmmaking
This class has been requested by many members. The class will be led by award winning cinematographer and director, John Granger. John has agreed to tailor the class to the needs and skill levels of the registered students. It may also include instruction in lighting and sound.

Another much requested workshop, this class will be led by Eric Emerick. Eric is a respected member of Screenwriters of Brevard (SOBs), a member of many film groups, and a hard working member of the board of the Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival. He has won many awards for both his screenwriting and film work.

Actors Mini Sessions

Emmy Award winner, David Vosburgh plans to hold Mini sessions before or after meetings on various acting issues such as audition techniques, acting for camera, etc.
Please keep an eye out for details to come.

PA Academy
This proposed class will train and ‘certify’ Production Assistants in order to make them Industry Ready - and on a list for hire.  This class is in development. Input accepted.

August 12, 2019: Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey will speak on Filmmakers working with local law enforcement - safety and procedures.  He will also speak about his own experiences publicizing public awareness announcements through his creative and humorous videos

Septmber 9, 2019: Terry Cronin from the Melbourne Independent Filmmaker's Festival WHICH WILL BE HELD OCTOBER 17, 18, and 19.

October 14, 2019: David Vosburgh - EMMY AWARD WINNER (1995 David received a National Sports Emmy Award for Technical Achievement. ESPN/ABC Auto Racing Coverage.) He plans to bring his EMMY! David is an expert in many areas in front of and behind the camera.

November 11, 2019:  Annual Film and Reel night. A chance for members to show their skills. PLEASE RESERVE TIME FOR YOUR FOOTAGE.

June 10, 2018: Kelli Mondshein:  Owner of Jellybean Media Productions LLC discussed her business, from starting it up to finding clients and the hardships that business owners have when it comes to understanding video and how it is beneficial. She also showed examples of projects she has worked on from a photography perspective and a video perspective.

May 13, 2019: Eric Estrada: Writer, producer, artist, filmmaker, and co-founder of Indiecon 2019 discussed his background, storyboarding, and comic book/graphic art work.

April 6, 2019: Bill Williams, President & Owner of A Cut Above Video and an expert in video production, presented guidelines for indie producers to look and sound their best in a movie theater followed by a 
tour of the theater’s projection booth with interesting commentary on projection booth history.
March 11, 2019:  Dalton Smith, the owner of NPI Productions and widely known YouTube creator who films and often stars in action filled sports, sun and fun type videos. Dalton has filmed many promotional videos for Brevard County.

February 11, 2019: Kathleen "Bo" Bobak, a 25 year veteran of the film industry told of her on set experiences as everything from a PA, to a director on several major motion picture. 

January 14, 2019: Chuck Fresh, VO Artist featured on-air, in educational documentaries, audio books, movie trailers, radio and television commercials, on popular YouTube videos, and in corporate presentations, discussed the voice talent business and the opportunities and drawbacks.  Chuck also discussed the INDIECON event coming to town in June 2019.

December 10, 2018:  Our annual Holiday Party was held at Pound the Grape at Melbourne Mall.  45 members, family, and friends attended. While we enjoyed a soup, salad, and pasta bar from Olive Garden, pizzas from Dominos and yummy desserts provided by members, we were entertained by KitchenKillaz, a touring acoustic duo (comprised of Billy Floyd and Jay "The Commodore" Stephens). Thank you to BFaT members Cliff and Rebecca Ryan from Pound the Grape for all you did and to the Kitchen Killaz who kept us laughing and singing along the whole night long.

November 12, 2018:  Rick and Donna Moore:   Fight Directors/Choreographers brought their talents and expertise in character development and stage violence as owners of M.A.S.K. (Melbourne Academy Stage Kombat) to the meeting.  They did an interactive sword fight and 'neck break' using safe methods that look and sound real on camera. 

October 8, 2018: Sue Dontell, a very productive local filmmaker and president of Space Coast Filmmakers and Associates (SCUFA) and judge at the Melbourne Independent Filmmaker's Festival spoke about indie filmmaking, from script to premeire and how to properly handle each step.  

September 10:   Thomas R. Carter, Emilie Petri and Kelli Monshein discussed their recent experience in the Orlando 48 Hour Film Festival.  Rules, planning and proceedures, problems and successes.

August 13, 2018Chris Kridler (author, photographer, videographer stormchaser) Chris will discuss the challenges of storm videography, risks taken by amateurs, the horrible market, etc., and show some storm video

July 9, 2018:  Jeff Thompson (Brevard County Library Services Director) Tells about the NEW Creative Lab (studios, cameras, and Adobe Creative Suite, plus more) open for free use.

June 11, 2018:  Kelli Turner (Turner Talent) tells what her company can do for Talent as well as filmmakers. 
Lee Nessel  (Social Media Expert) discusses Social Media how and why one should use it.

April 2017 -- Adam Young: from Discovery Channels hit TV show “Naked and Afraid.” The Outdoorsman, Entrepreneur and Lifelong learner tells of his experience on the show and all the behind the scenes action and devices.

March 2017 --  Bob Caso: Writer/Producer, actor and owner of Actors Group Orlando and Actors Group Melbourne will share some of his experiences from his 25 years in Los Angeles.

He will share his expereinces from his tour, events and also let us know about Road to Sanctuary -webseries in production!

Mike Germaine – Reel Treasures Studios and Starlight Films
Vinne Taranto – Media-Over-Matter Productions is finishing up a film and continues to shoot documentaries, live events, short films and commercials. He produced and was a finalist in a Doritos Crash the Super Bowl contest
